AbstractHistoryArchive Description

''Rhapsody had for its locale the parlour of an inn at Nirlitz, a village on the road to Berlin, and was set In the spring of 1841. It dealt with an incident In the life of Franz Liszt, the composer, and the story was neatly unfolded and the atmosphere cleverly suggested it was probable' ('One-Act Plays,' p.20).

Notes

  • In a report on the results of the Perth Repertory Club's play competition, Secretary Cyril Ryan announced in the that at least two of the prize-winning plays would be produced by the Club at an early date ('One-Act Plays,' p.20). The winning entry, Enter the Author (Allan Aldous) was staged in march and the runner-up, Centurion (Alexander Turner) was staged in July. Although Rhapsody was also not chosen for production, Tweedie was nevertheless represented in the July season through the inclusion of her 1934 prize-winning play The Queen's Marie.
  • No production of Rhapsody has yet been located.
