Born in the Victorian company town of Yallourn (which no longer exists), Paul Dumble was educated at Howlong Public School, Albury High School and later graduated from Charles Sturt University. He has worked as Editor of Training and Development magazine at Australian Institute of Training and Development, and later served the organisation's Chief Executive Officer. He began writing professionally as a children's author at age 35.
