'Michaela Wilkes has worked in the field of language and languages in Australia and Asia since 1980. Her MA (Applied Linguistics) focused on the discourse of ‘race’ during the time of the Wik native title case. During her career, she had worked extensively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in education and community settings. Michaela began working at the Centre for Australian Languages and Linguistics at Batchelor Institute in 2006, lecturing in the BA (Language and Linguistics) and also doing some teaching in the Own Language Work course with S.E. Arrernte speaking assistant teachers. At the time of writing this paper, Michaela was Elizabeth Ellis’ lecturer in Morphology.' (Ngoonjook No.35, 2010, p.6)
