History

In 2018, no prize was awarded for either the Picture Book or the Young Readers categories.

Notes

  • First awarded in 1988 by the NSW Family Therapy Association. State branches joined with the NSW Branch and the Award became a national one.
    The Award is annual and is for an Australian children's book published in the previous year.
    From 1988 to 1995 there was a single category for the Award.
    In 1996 two categories were created, Older Readers; and Picture Book and Younger Readers.

    There was no award in the Picture Book and Younger Readers category in 2003.
