The Commonwealth Short Story Prize is awarded annually to ‘the best piece of unpublished short fiction from the Commonwealth’. The geographical categories include Africa, Asia, Canada and Europe, Caribbean, and Pacific.
'Awarded for the best piece of unpublished short fiction (2000 - 5000 words). Submissions must be made by the author of the short story. Regional winners receive £1,000 and the overall winner receives £5,000.'
The prize was inaugurated in 2011, marking the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, and first awarded in 2012.
