History

The Richard Burton Award for Playwriting was created by Sally Burton in association with Black Swan State Theatre Company.

No prize was awarded in 2011.

Notes

  • The Richard Burton Award for New Plays, created bySally Burton and her company Onward Production in association with Black Swan, celebrates the career of Richard Burton. It aims to encourage storytellers from all over Australia. The Richard Burton Award for New Plays will be awarded annually to works that have not yet had a production. The Award, first offered in 2010/2011, will be one of the richest in Australia, with a prize pool of $30,000.
