History

The program is targeted specifically at writers from remote, regional areas of Australia and Indigenous writers and provides professional development opportunities, professional networking opportunities, genuine pathways to publication or performance, and an expanding sense of community for regional writers across Australia. The Macquarie Group Foundation LongLines Programs offer workshops in either poetry, prose or playwriting (in partnership with PlayLab Qld); Varuna residencies (one writer from each State and Territory) and Non-Residential Readings and Consultations

Notes

  • 'The Macquarie Group Foundation LongLines Program has been developed to create equality of opportunity and pathways to publication and performance for writers living away from the arts infrastructure concentrated in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The program is targeted specifically at writers from remote, regional areas of Australia and Indigenous writers.'

The program takes the form of a writers' residential workshop, a community writing week and a non-residential consultation.
