This annual award recognises the best writing on policy and politics in Australia. The prize was named in memory of John Button.
The John Button Prize was created in memory of John Button, a former Federal Senator and minister. The prize, first awarded in 2009, is offered to 'the best piece of non-fiction writing on politics or public policy in the previous 12 months'. The prize is managed by the John Button Literary Foundation and funded by public donation.
