John Hinde AM (1911-2006) was an Australian broadcaster and film reviewer. He worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for more than 50 years, in both television and radio.
Upon his death he bequeathed $500,000 to the Australian Writers' Guild to establish the John Hinde Award for a science fiction script for film or television. The award rewards creativity and excellence in science fiction writing.
