  • The Akutagawa Ryonosuke Sho, or Akutagawa Prize, is awarded in January and July each year for the best work of fiction by a new or upcoming Japanese author. Established in 1935, the award is named in memory of the Japanese writer Ryunosuke Akatagawa.
