History

'The first Henry Lawson Festival of Arts was held on the June long weekend in 1958, and it has continued every year since to commemorate the birth of Henry Lawson in Grenfell. The festival aims to promote and attain recognition for aspiring Australians in various fields of arts such as verse, story, art, photography and television. Entries close for the Verse and Short Story competitions in March each year. Verse is limited to 48 lines and short stories to 2000 words.
