'From the early 1970s till 1987, The Brisbane Warana Drama Festival was staged each year at Brisbane Arts Theatre and was one of the major theatrical events in Brisbane, as part of the Warana Festival. When the festival folded, Brisbane Arts Theatre began the current Drama Festival, under its own banner. The first festival was held in 1988.' Prizes are awarded in age and open sections for 'Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Support Male, Best Support Female, Best New Work (to encourage original works) and up to five Adjudicator's Awards'.

'It's the end of school year dance - in fancy dress. Lauren is the new girl, unsure of herself and lonely. Daniel is the school's champion athlete who is keen on classmate Wendy. During the evening valuables disappear and Daniel is the suspect who is caught in the act, or so it seems, by Lauren. Whose work is taken as the truth? Explores relationships, suspicions and one-parent families.'
