History

'Presented by Express Media, The John Marsden Prize for Young Australian Writers is open to poets, short fiction writers and novelists under twenty-five. It has been running since 2004 and is judged by John Marsden himself. All winners are published in Voiceworks or on the Express Media website, and share in a $5500 prize. On 1 July 2020, The John Marsden Prize for Young Australian Writers was renamed the Hachette Australia Prize for Young Writers.
