Sponsored by the Northern Territory Department of Education. 

Notes

  • Established in 2004 and sponsored by the Northern Territory Department of Employment, Education and Training, the competition offers a first prize of $1000 in the two major categories - traditional stories and contemporary writing. The competition is also open to primary and secondary school students, songwriters and poets.

This award-winning story describes what life was like for Ivy and her family when she was a young woman working at Pigeon Hole cattle station, south-west of Katherine in the Northern Territory.
