History

The Bookman of the year was awarded by the National Book Council 1974–79 to a person who had made a substantial contribution to the promotion of books.

Notes

  • First awarded in 1974, the award was known as the NBC Gold Medal after 1991. The prize was not awarded 1980-1991. The award was discontinued after 1996.
