History

The National Book Council Gold Medal was awarded in recognition of contributions to Australian literature.

Notes

  • First awarded in 1974, the award was known as the NBC Bookman of the Year Award until 1991. The prize was not awarded 1980-1991. The award was discontinued after 1996.
