History

'September 29, 2011 marked the twenty-seventh anniversary of Hal Porter's death. To celebrate his literary life, the East Gippsland Art Gallery and the Hill of Content Bookshop launched the eighteenth Hal Porter Short Story Competition, with a national prize of $1000 for the winner and book prizes and certificates for shortlisted stories. The competition has been sponsored by the Hill of Content Bookshop, Community College East Gippsland, Collins Booksellers (Bairnsdale), East Gippsland Newspapers, East Gippsland Institute of TAFE, and Porters Electrical.
