Described in advertising as an 'enchanting Eastern Extravaganza' and an 'extraordinary oriental pantomime, written and produced by Miss Agnes Rahilly Brown' (Brisbane Courier 12 May 1925, p.2).

Production Details

  • 1925: Theatre Majestic, Brisbane; 12-24 May

    • Producer Union Theatres; Director Agnes Rahilly-Brown; Music Director Will Butland.
    • Troupe: Sunshine Kiddies.
    • Cast incl. Joe Lawman, Nancy Zumpner, Stewart Struthers, Carmen Burgess, Doreen Albert, and Mona Sugrue.
    • First known production.
    • Also possibly staged on the Sunshine Kiddies North Queensland tour; ca. November-December 1925.

    1930s: The Red Lantern is believed to have also been staged by the Sunshine Kiddies as The Red Goblin during the 1930s.
