Buckley's Chance, Chris Munro , single work biography
This article provides a brief insight into the life of William Buckley or 'Murrangurk' Buckley an escaped convict who was accepted into the Wathaurung language group in the Melbourne region. Buckley lived amongst the Wathaurung for an extended period and became a fully accepted member of their clan, however when colonisers started to arrive Buckley facilitated relations between the Wathaurung and the newly arrived colonisers. Buckley soon fell out of favor with the Wathaurung and moved to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) where he lived out the rest of his life.
