Storey notes that Tony Morphett requested that his name be removed from the credits of the final episode, so substantial were the changes made to his original script.
Moran and Storey both note that ATV0 approached Crawfords to produce a police drama but were refused. When The Long Arm failed, Crawfords were approached again. The result was Matlock Police.
