AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The writer relates the story of a scientist travelling through North Queensland who encountered an old miner who would throw a large blue stone at his dog to keep it away from his meat supply. When the scientist expressed interest in the stone, the miner offered it to him. The stone subsequently became the object of consideration for a much grander role.
