  • Professor Parker's benefit at the Charlie Napier Theatre was poorly attended owing to the rise in admission prices and the unfavourable weather. However, many members of the Rifle Corps attended and participated in some of the demonstrations of swordsmanship and other feats of arms. The band of the corps provided the musical entertainment.
