This, the twenty-second in a series on pioneers and explorers, credits Robert Hoddle with the beauty of Melbourne's planning, especially for St Kilda Road. He was also one of the surveyors of the Canberra district and a pioneer surveyor of New South Wales and Queensland. A short biography of Hoddle includes excerpts from his diary including some experiences with bushrangers.
