AbstractHistoryArchive Description

This, the eighteenth in a series on pioneers and explorers, is a history of Mount Morgan in Central Queensland. It begins from 1853 when James and William Archer first surveyed the area. Alexander Gordon, a stockman, discovered gold but it was the Morgan brothers who bought the rights for what was then known as Iron Mountain. They mined gold and copper, and registered their company in 1886.
