A Free-Lance columnist relates an incident from 'the Bohemian Press days of 20 years ago': Marcus Clarke, Kyrle Bellew and George Walstab are sitting on a bridge crossing Flinders St engaging in a heated discussion. A constable approaches to ask why they are breaking the peace. Clarke replies that they are simply 'discussing the immortality of the soul'.
