To the Australian Public, single work advertisement

In November 1838 MacDonald published a notice 'To the Australian Public' in the advertising columns of Sydney newspapers. The notice appeals 'for succour and support' and ends with the postscript: 'My last publication, containing a History of my Life with a Prose Essay, entitled the Fate of a Genius, with four Original Songs, may be had at Mr. Tegg's, Bookseller, George-street, price 1s. 6d. I humbly request that each of the Editors of the Australian Newspapers will give the above article a place in their columns. Persons desirous of befriending me may send their donations, addressed to the Australian Office.'

Royal Victoria Theatre : The Larboard Fin &c., single work advertisement
An advertisment for a performance at the Royal Victoria Theatre, Sydney, on 20 November 1838 of 'the Nautical Drama in 3 Acts, entitled The Larboard Fin' and the 'Ballad Opera, called The Waterman'. The performance included 'the Song of "The Rover" by Mr Falchon [Arthur Falchon].'

An advertisement, dated 20 November 1838, announcing to 'Subscribers and Friends' that Suttor's selected work Original Poetry '(with a faithful portrait of the Author)' is 'now ready for sale .. of Mr James Tegg, Bookseller and Printer, George-street, Sydney.'

This is an extract from a book Nelsonian Reminiscences and was originally published in the English newspaper the Metropolitan in November 1837. Nelsonian Reminiscences may have been first published in England in parts. It appears not to have been published in full until 1843. Extracts from Nelsonian Reminiscences were republished in Australian colonial newspapers in the nineteenth century.
