Uncle Jacob's Will, Archibald Birt , single work novella
Lawyer Francis Osborne's Uncle and business partner, Jacob Osborne, dies and leaves him an inheritance on the condition that he marry by the age of thirty. This would seem ideal for twenty-eight year old Francis who is engaged to the only daughter of one of the firm's wealthiest clients. However, as his affianced lives in Sydney and Francis has not seen her for six months, he finds that absence does not always make the heart grow fonder.
