AbstractHistoryArchive Description

A British soldier and politician in New Zealand are discussing the possibility of the outbreak of war with Maori tribes. However, the soldier realises the Maori leader is an old and dear friend of his from college days. To further complicate matters, he falls in love with a girl who is of Maori and British descent, and discovers his friend is also in love with her. The Maori leader receives an accurate prophetic vision about a volcanic eruption, in which he sacrifices his life to save others, which leaves the soldier free to marry the girl, and war is averted.
