Many of these stories appeared as an illustrated series in the Leisure Hour between 6 May - 24 June, 1865. 'Storm at the Diggings' appeared in the Leisure Hour on 28 November 1863.
Includes all the stories listed in the 1900 edition, and additional stories - 'A Typhoon in China', 'A Siberian Shipwreck', and 'Adventure in a Flood' - including one with Australian content: 'Margaret Wharncliffe: A Recollection of a Convict Transport Ship'.
