AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Sydney, the city that is, is beautiful. THAT'S OFFICIAL! But is she just a little too beautiful? Has she lost her grit, her nonchalance, and her 'suave fare'? [McLachlan] wrote 'Are You Ready for Your Photo, Sydney?' after the Olympic Games transformed Sydney and its people and gave the rest of the world a chance to see why we live here. Some years on, and with continued sightings of those volunteer jackets, you wondered if we've just gone too far. In Tom's play everyone wants to get a little dirty and a little ugly. Sydney's opera singers want to do rap, the seagulls take more than they need and fathers and sons are having some very disturbing conversations.'
