Titanic Conceit, Gerard Henderson , single work column
Gerard Henderson contends that in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries the arts in Australia have been characterised by 'the willingness of artists to cut themselves adrift from the life of society and to become sneering, carping critics of ordinary lives and values.' This mindset 'has perhaps never been better showcased than in a long piece of reportage by playwright David Williamson in last week's Bulletin.'
