Gemmell lists the four books she has found most moving: Atomised by Michel Houellebecq, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Coming Through Slaughter by Michael Ondaatje, and Coming Home : Rediscovering Our Sacred Selves by Maggie Hamilton. Gemmell also notes the influence of her own journal writing.
