Capricornia : Some First and Last Impressions of a Great Australian Novel, P. R. Stephensen , single work essay
Stephensen hails Capricornia as a great book which deserves to be recognised, but states that it is difficult for Australian books to get the recognition they deserve. He enumerates a number of reasons, including booksellers and publishers not promoting Australian literature, a lack of professional reviewers, and 'snob imported culture'.
