BiographyHistory

Alex Selenitsch arrived in Australia as a displaced person with his parents. He was educated in Victoria and New South Wales, graduating as an architect in 1969. He travelled widely in the United States and Europe, and taught architectural design, theory and history at Deakin University and RMIT, and then became a senior lecturer in architecture at the University of Melbourne. Selenitsch has also been a member of the Public Art Committee of the Melbourne City Council.

A visual and concrete poet in the ikon/logos tradition, Selenitsch has held many solo shows and exhibitions. He has also written text for art exhibition catalogues and various other art publications, as well as editing and contributing to numerous works on architecture. Selenitsch has also published a number of art reproduction books that don't quite qualify as selected works of poetry, incorporating shapes that are difficult to classify as text.
