'Sometimes I feel like there’s too much going on in the world around me, and it all cuts too closely to my bones. Writing anchors the important bits down, so I can manage the trauma accordingly. When I wrote a short essay titled ‘The Day Trump Won’ to cope with the fact that Donald Trump had become President—and to talk about myself—I expected it to end there.
