1 Eliza Brown (1785-1831) : Anonymous Author of 'Mamma's Lessons' Merete Colding Smith , 2017 single work biography
— Appears in: Script & Print , March vol. 41 no. 2 2017; (p. 69-91)

The inscription: "Langton Edward Glover Brown, April 11th 1869, his 3rd birthday, from his Papa and written by his Grandmamma Eliza Brown" is penned inside the front cover of a copy of the fifteenth edition of 'Mamma's Lessons for Her Little Boys and Girls,' a collection of short, but realistic, stories for and about young children graded in difficulty to teach reading. This copy became part of the Morgan Collection of Children's Books at the University of Melbourne in 1954, when F. C. Morgan of Hereford (1878-1978) donated his extensive collection of historical children's books to the University in order to give direct access for English speakers living far away from England to an important part of their heritage. This copy has no printed indication of authorship. However, the following demonstrates how the inscription corroborates and adds to information found in Marjorie Moon's bibliography of the London publisher John Harris regarding the life and identity of this particular anonymous author and leads to a further two children's books by her, also in the Morgan Collection.'  (Publication abstract)
