He then discusses his experience with television in 1963; working with The Canberra Times as managing editor for a year to improve the paper and provide competition for the newly established Australian then his return to SMH as editor. Pringle then talks about the factors leading to his decision to retire from SMH and journalism. He then discusses his books, Have Pen : Will Travel and The Last Shenachie and his interest in Australian birds and the publication of Wrens and Warblers of Australia, Waterbirds of Australia and Shore Birds of Australia.
