— Appears in: The Australian Journal , May vol. 20 no. 240 1885; (p. 473-475) English cross-class romance. An English society gentleman determines to marry a Manchester cotton merchant's daughter to restore his fortunes. Once he meets her he falls in love but she refuses to marry him because of the scorn he had shown for her father in their first meeting. He has by then come to honour the worthy man ... and all is eventually settled happily. (PB)
