'Robbie's Mob is set in Australia where the author spent some years as a child. The "Mob" is the eight children of the Robbins family, scrapping, plotting and dodging household chores but united and loyal in defending anyone of themselves who is threatened by adult discipline or ill luck.

'When Pippa, who has been away in hospital for several months as a result of an accident, returns home, the effects on the Mob are mixed. There is anger that she is still deaf, jealousy that she should have special attention, but most of all determination that if anyone can help her the Mob can. Could it have been the Mob's scheme for a special surprise effect at the Christmas Carol Service in the bush which helped Pippa?' (Inside dust jacket)
