BiographyHistory

James MacDowall Conroy, originally from Dublin, arrived in Australia in the mid 1860s. Conroy landed in Sydney and subsequently moved to Bendigo and later to Melbourne. He was a teacher until he sought a career as a surveyor. Conroy was a regular contributor to the Australasian newspaper for several years. He eventually moved back to Sydney.
