BiographyHistory

Florence Thompson married John Rudge of Dursley, England and came to Australia in 1914. Her early literary articles appeared under her maiden name then she adopted the pseudonym of Fairelie Thornton. Some of her poetry was set to music and sung in church services. Several volumes of Thornton's devotional poetry are listed in her Love : Poems but have not been confirmed from other sources. They include Golden Harps, The Master's Vineyard and Breast the Wave. She wrote several religious prose texts including Sunset Gleams (1930) and contributed the devotional page to a religious magazine, Grit, for several years.
