BiographyHistory

'Hrytsko Volokyta' was born in Berezhany, the Western Ukraine. He has had his work performed in Ukrainian and published in Ukrainian and English. He has worked on the editorial staff of Vilna Dumka since 1951 and occasionally contributed to Tserkva i Zhyttia. He began writing short stories and plays in 1932. In Australia he headed a Ukrainian theatre group in Sydney, The Flying Estrade, from 1974. He has read his work on Radio Liberty, Munich and Radio 2EA, Sydney, and has given numerous public readings.
