BiographyHistory

Zbigniew Jasiński's work was mainly published in Polish. He studied journalism in Warsaw and during WW II was a member of the Polish underground resistance movement. He emigrated to England in 1945, and after seven years re-emigrated to Australia.

In Australia he worked as a bookkeeper. He was a member of the Union of Polish Writers Abroad (London). In 1954 he won third prize in the Radio Free Europe (Munich) Competition for his radio play Rzecz o Korkach i Piorkach. He became known particularly for his poem Zadamy amunicji [Give us ammunition] which has been translated into many languages.

Jasiński had articles published in Polish News (Sydney) and Polish Weekly (Melbourne), as well as in Polish newspapers in London and Paris.
