BiographyHistory

Hugh Simmonds came to Brisbane in 1881 to take up an appointment as Ordained Deacon, St John's Pro-Cathedral. He became a Priest in 1891 and was rector of several Brisbane and country parishes before serving as minor canon at St John's Cathedral from 1905 until his retirement in 1924. He then returned to England where he died in 1943.
