In the 1930s Mcleod served as President of The Dramatists' Club of Australia. Her involvement also included writing and producing plays for the Dramatists Club Players. Among the productions she directed was Dorothy Blewett's Quiet Night (1941).
In 1943 McLeod founded the Swan Hill National Theatre , Victoria, directing and producing plays for the company for many years. She also she taught speech and was an actor and writer for ABC radio.
