Caroline Mignone was born in Australia with an Italian background. In an interview about her short play 'Buckle my Shoe' she said of her childhood, 'My grandmother had a great influence on my life. Living in two different cultures with adults is a unique experience for a highly suggestive child.' (Advertiser 26 May 1990 p 12). She did Honours in a Drama course at Flinders University and became an actor. In 1990 she worked with the State Theatre Co.
