'Welcome to the town of Grinalong!

'Grinalong was once famous for the car race, The Grinalong Classic. Fifty years ago the race stopped. A wolf that lived in nearby Tangled Woods destroyed racing cars and the drivers fled in terror. But now, the new Mayor has a plan to bring back Grinalong’s glory days, and to re-launch the race. However, it soon becomes obvious that he is more interested in furthering his own ambitions and lining his pockets than helping the town… and he doesn’t mind hurting Red and Gran in the process.

'Red and Gran fight for survival, relying on their wit, determination and cunning to overcome the Mayor and win The Classic. Environmental and civic responsibility, the survival of small towns and the strength of women, young and old, are all themes that are explored via the medium of slot car racing!'

1 Sick : A Comedy of Unhealthy Proportions Sean Monro , 2015 single work drama humour

'Argan is found wandering down Collins Street and taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

'How will the system deal with this man from 17th Century France? Borrowing heavily from Moliere, the French master of farce, Sean Monro brings us a contemporary comedy of outrageous proportions, populated with larger than life characters.

'Fears of the coming greyvalanche, the wit of alternative healers and the ludicrous results of self diagnosis with the help of Google all drive this hilarious new comedy set against the backdrop of the Tasmanian health system in 2019.

'The resultant production is insightful, contemporary, very funny, politically and socially sharp, and makes some dire predictions about Australia in the near future.'

1 Born from Animals Tom Holloway , Finegan Kruckemeyer , Sean Monro , 2014 selected work drama

'There are many important issues that demand our attention in the 21st Century. This trio of extraordinary plays by three exceptional Tasmanian writers, explores contemporary masculinity and the impact it can cause.

'These writers weave through the maze of ideas concerning fallen masculinity, isolation, communication and disconnection. They have stepped outside their own comfort zones and styles to examine the damage wrought by, and to their gender.

'Born from Animals will bring together the expertise and experience of one of Australia’s leading directors of new Australian theatre in Aidan Fennessy, the amazing design talents of Peta Heffernan and Elvio Brianese from Liminal Spaces and some of Tasmanian’s most experienced actors.

'This is strong, original, contemporary Australian theatre.'

1 Tidal Pools Sean Monro , 2012 single work drama

'An original Tasmanian play marking the tenth anniversary of The War on Terror: a disturbing and disarmingly humorous response to that epoch-making event. Tidal Pools offers a glimpse of contemporary Australia from two strikingly different perspective: an adult world of politics and brutal ambition, and a child’s world of innocence and whimsy. In each, the stakes are high.'
