Animal Studies Journal is the journal of the Australian Animal Studies Group. It is fully refereed (double-blind peer reviewed) and open access and provides a forum for current research in human-animal Studies. ASJ publishes international cross-disciplinary content with a particular, but not exclusive, interest in Australian, New Zealand and Asia-Pacific scholarship.

The journal aims to be a leading international forum for the dissemination and discussion of animal studies research and creative work. ASJ aims to support and promote scholarship and scholarly exchange within animal studies, with a view to the advancement of positive human-animal relations. ASJ reflects the Australian Animal Studies Group's commitment to fostering a community of animal studies scholars, scientists, creative artists and animal advocates. Material for the journal comes from a wide range of perspectives, across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of this field.
