1 To the Editors of The Australian 'A Fair Penitent' , 1825 single work correspondence
— Appears in: The Australian , 7 April no. 26 1825; (p. 2)

'A Fair Penitent' puts the case for the building of a theatre in Sydney. The writer is 'confident that five or six thousand pounds might be collected with the assistance of the respectable farmers up the country. With that sum a very snug theatre might be built, and dresses, scenery, and machinery obtained.'

The writer offers the further opinion that 'The respectable gentlemen who formed the Turf Club would be the fittest persons to set such an establishment afloat. The sooner the better.'
