1 Ah Bat's Letter Alf. Rea Pike (fl.1922) , 1922 single work short story
— Appears in: The Queenslander , 23 December 1922; (p. 44)
The editor of a small town newspaper is desperate for more news to fill the columns before the next edition goes to print. His dilemma is solved when local gardener, Ah Bat, comes in with a story of stolen melons. At the editor's request, Ah Bat, despite his difficulties with the English language, writes his story. Such was public interest in the story that the day's edition led to the paper recording its highest sales ever.
